What is Bamboo Fiber Plate?
- A plate made by powdering bamboo fibers and shaping them into a shape using cornstarch and other materials.
- By incorporating natural materials, we can reduce the use of synthetic resins (plastics).
- Bamboo grows quickly, twice as fast as wood, and does not require any chemicals.
- Due to the above characteristics, it is attracting attention around the world as an environmentally friendly material.
- MARINA & MITSUKO's original bamboo fiber products are made from a mixture of 60% bamboo fiber, 20% cornstarch, and 20% melamine resin.
Great features
- Lightweight and not easily broken.
- Can be stacked for easy storage without taking up too much space.
- It can be disposed of as burnable garbage. (Please check the disposal method for tableware containing melamine in your area as it may differ depending on the municipality.)
- Dishwasher safe, making it easy to use for everyday use and to clean up after a party.
- It dries quickly.
Important points to note
- Heat resistant up to 80℃.
- Do not use in microwaves or ovens.
- Please refrain from using the product in a microwave oven, as the melamine contained in the product may react to microwaves and become very hot.
- Avoid disinfecting with boiling water.
- Do not use cleansers or scrubbing pads.
- Do not use chlorine bleach.
- Do not place near fire.

About melamine resin
Melamine resin is a synthetic resin produced by the condensation polymerization of the organic compound melamine and formaldehyde. Since its development in Switzerland in 1938, it has spread around the world as a material for tableware, mainly due to its light, durable nature and ease of processing. There was a time when the media reported that melamine tableware could be harmful to health due to the leaching of formaldehyde. However, today, many research results have shown that it is harmless.
According to an article in the Yomiuri Shimbun dated December 10, 1987, the National Institute of Hygienic Testing stated, "When formaldehyde enters the body, it is broken down into water and carbon dioxide or excreted, so there is no need to worry about it building up and it is harmless. " Also in the same year, the US FDA's Food Safety and Nutrition Center reported the results of a study stating, "The amount of formaldehyde leaching from melamine tableware is negligible, and it has been proven to be harmless."
About formaldehyde
Most of the foods we eat on a daily basis contain dozens of times the amount of formaldehyde that leaches out of melamine tableware, and it is said that it is difficult to find foods that do not contain it. In other words, the human body has enzymes that break down formaldehyde, so even if we ingest formaldehyde from food or water, it is quickly metabolized into a non-toxic substance (formic acid) and excreted, or broken down into water and carbon dioxide, so it has no effect on our health.

Our thoughts
We want cute and fun things and experiences to be environmentally friendly as a matter of course. As a step towards making this wish come true, we launched MARINA & MITSUKO.
Ecological issues have been raised and actions to solve them since the 1970s. The value of "sustainability" that was born as research progressed is finally gradually being recognized in our daily lives.
How can we realize the idea that "all problems are connected, and we cannot expect to find solutions by focusing only on environmental issues. Let's create a sustainable society in which everyone can live in harmony"?
It is extremely difficult to resolve a problem while taking into account all aspects, and even if something goes well for one side, it could cause other problems on the other side of the world, or problems could arise in the distant future, so to be honest, there is still a lot we don't understand.
Rather than becoming paralyzed by deciding that things absolutely have to be a certain way or that they should be a certain way, I think we need a situation where we can all continue to think together, discuss, share knowledge, and take even the smallest amount of action.
It's important to be as interested in the environment as you are in cute things and fun things, to always be open to new facts and knowledge, and to try to put them into action one by one. And to keep doing that. We want to achieve sustainable sustainability by increasing the number of options available for this.
